Die ost-slowakische Metropole Košice, Partnerstadt Wuppertals, ist in diesem Jahr Kulturhauptstadt Europas. Dies nahm der Rektor der dortigen Technischen Universität, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anton Čižmár, zum Anlass, seinen Amtskollegen Prof. Dr. Lambert T. Koch, den Rektor der Bergischen Universität, zu einem Besuch einzuladen. Im Auftrag des Wuppertaler Oberbürgermeisters Peter Jung überbrachte Professor Koch dabei auch offizielle Grüße der Stadtspitze.
